Statement by Sen. McCain on Agreement on VA Reform Legislation

Statement

Date: June 5, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) today released the following statement on the agreement reached today on VA reform legislation:

"This legislation empowers our veterans with more flexibility to choose the health care they've earned while bringing much-needed accountability to VA operations, including the ability to immediately fire poor-performing employees with no pay during the appeals process. Compromise can be difficult, but addressing the most pressing challenges raised by this crisis in veterans' care requires it. I thank Senator Sanders for his commitment to this issue as well as Senators Burr, Coburn and Flake for their tremendous leadership. I look forward to working with my colleagues who have ideas on improving this legislation on the floor in the coming weeks."
